Republican Candidates Chris Bodkin and Steve Flotteron won the day and the future direction for the Town of Islip defeating Democrat Challengers Parrington and Alvarez and Conservative Bowers in one of the hardest fought campaigns in Islip Town history.

The Election Results Party was held at The Van Kemenade Paint and Wallpaper Store located on Montauk Hwy in Sayville. Food, desserts and beverages were plentiful ranging from cookies, and home baked brownies to Baked Ziti.

As a few precincts started reporting in, Christopher Bodkin was first while Parrington was in second with Steve Flotteron in third. The tension in the crowd grew, but as more and more precincts started reporting in, it became clear that Steve Flotteron was going to overtake Parrington. The pivotal point of the night came when 75 precincts reporting in which Flotteron surpassed Parrington by 2 votes and minutes after that it was all over, the night was won! The quiet and somber gathering turned jubilant, cheering and applauding as Chris Bodkin took the "Stage" with current Islip Town Councilwoman Greene.

"Today is a new day for the Town of Islip." Bodkin said. This was a campaign won by the grass roots efforts of Friends and neighbors and many of them acknowledged that this is only the beginning. Steve Flotteron told the crowd that "if people have ideas, we want to hear them," while Pamela Raymond, of Sayville Inn, shouted back: "You'll regret those words!" The whole crowd got a chuckle out of that one!

Reporters from The New York Times, Newsday and the Suffolk County News were also there interviewing the candidates and capturing the moment.
