The Sayville Village Improvement Society Beach Party
sayville.com - August 23, 2005

The Sayville Village Improvement Society held its annual beach party last night at the old Sayville Beach from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Attendees wore colorful, casual beach outfits and paid $15 to attend. Sayville Village Improvement Society member Bernadette Westman brought her “Survivor” husband, Tom, who was a popular guest of honor. Other guests of note were government officials Ginnie Fields, Bill Lindsay, Pam Greene and Chris Bodkin.

Refreshments and snacks were served as the D-Fenders band played their tunes. There were side shows too. A colorful flag dancer named Jeffrie and a gold macaw parrot named Big, entertained. It looked like everyone had a great time and enjoyed the bayside fun.

The Sayville Village Improvement Society is a ladies club formed in 1914 for the betterment of their community. They donated the property for the public beach where the party was held and were also founders of the Sayville Library. Profits from their fundraisers pay for such good deeds as flower pots on Main Street and scholarships for local students. New members are encouraged to join and may write to them at P.O. Box 382, Sayville 11782.
