In the spring of 2005 the Mothers’ Center of the South Shore in Sayville became the pilot Center to offer the Circle of Caring Perinatal Depression Support Group. They have worked closely with the Postpartum Resource Center of New York, Inc. as they trained their peer facilitators and Social Worker to lead this very important support group.

The Postpartum Resource Center of New York, Inc. is the nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization in New York State representing perinatal mood disorders support and education. Two Long Island women, Sonia Murdock and Emily Sampino co-founded the Postpartum Resource Center of New York, Inc. in 1998 after they each experienced gaps and recognized the needs in education, treatment and support services regarding postpartum depression/psychosis.
