On September 22, 2006, Pam Raymond of Sayville Inn was presented with the New York Small Business Advisory Board's 2006 Small Business Advocate of the Year for New York State.

Family, friends, state, town and Chamber representatives, as well as numerous small business owners gathered in the quaint restaurant co-owned by Ms Raymond to congratulate her for her accomplishment.

The Small Business Advocate Award is part of three Small Business Awards presented every year to honor small business persons for exceptional achievements. Annual awards are given for small business person, small business advocate and small business non-for-profit. Ms Raymond was chosen for this award for the many improvements she implemented to shops in Sayville. The award was presented by the Lieutenant Governor Mary O. Donohue and representatives of the Small Business Administration. State Assemblywoman Ginny Fields, who nominated Pam Raymond for the award, was also present at the ceremony.

Participants at the event belonged to many different organizations proving the vast friendship bonds Pam Raymond cultivated and preserved over the years while aspiring for success for small businesses.

Ms Raymond thanked the Small Business Advisory representatives, the gathering and invited everybody to stay for food and drinks following the presentation. She ended the speech by giving the quote of the afternoon: "It takes a hamlet" crediting many for working together to improve the Hamlet of Sayville.
