Do you own a
vintage powerboat or classic sailboat? Do you have a
classic runabout sitting on a trailer just waiting to show
off her gleaming varnish and chrome? Is your traditional
sailboat straining her dock lines just aching to compete in
just one more yacht race? Are you an antique engine “nut”?
Do you yearn for the music of the sea? If so then the annual
Vintage Boat Show and Old-Timers Regatta is your event.
This year's
Vintage Boat Show and Old Timer's Regatta offered more
boats, marine vendors and engines, and fun-to-watch rowing
races. For additional entertainment, there was a new pirate
show, Black Spot; sea chanties performed by John Corr;
and displays by the Huntington Town Militia.
On Saturday, the
14th the new Gil Smith Catboat was launched. And as
if that was not enough, a highlight of the weekend was the
visit of the 75-foot schooner, Mary E. from
Greenport.
Day sails were
available from the West Sayville Dock.
This show is the
most important maritime event of its kind on the south shore
of Long Island. Vintage runabouts, classic cruisers,
sailboats from the golden age of yachting, vintage
outboards, antique engines and traditional rowing boats were
exhibited.
This show has
being hosted by the Long Island Chapter of the Antique and
Classic Boat Society and the Long Island Maritime Museum.
