National Fire Prevention Week 2007 is October 7-13. The Sayville Fire Department will be visiting and hosting elementary and pre-schools during the month of October to promote this year's national campaign “Practice Your Escape Plan”.

We will also be teaching children and their families about kitchen safety, candle safety, the importance of smoke detectors, having a home escape plan, lighter and match safety, how to dial 911, "stop drop and roll" and other important safety topics.

Every year during Fire Prevention week, we stress the importance of Fire Safety to children. This year we would like to get the parents involved and remind them of the importance of fire safety.

We encourage you to join your children's preschool and kindergarten fire prevention visit with the Sayville Fire Department so that we may share the importance of fire prevention and safety with you.

All parents who attend will be given a packet with household safety tips. Couldn't you use a little fire safety refresher?

The Sayville Fire Department will also be hosting their Annual Fire Prevention Day on October 20th 2007 at the “Fall Festival” between the hours of 10AM and 5PM.

We will be located on Gillette Avenue between Gillette Park and The Common Ground, where the Halloween Parade will finish.

All day visitors can visit our “Safety House”, tour the Fire Trucks, talk with firefighters, squirt water from a real fire hose and join in other activities. Lots of safety information will be available for adults and children on that day.

Thank you and always be safe.
